Reigncom has announced the release of the iriver NV mini, a PMP with built in GPS navigation. The device is basically a slimmed down version of iriver’s NV PMP. The mini has been heavily slimmed down in both size and functions, its a little confusing why the iriver mini is being released under that name as it bears little resemblance to other NV players.
As usual the iriver PMP comes equipped to handle most of the Microsoft friendly codecs, and it runs on Window’s CE 5.0. The GPS navigation software is from local mapping software company Gini. The battery life seems to be where the NV mini got its name from, it only offers 2.5 hours of built in battery life which could get some people lost. You can always plug it in if your in your car, but what about walking tours?
The NV mini comes equipped with a 3.5″ 320×240 resolution color touch screen, which is just passable for viewing navigational information on. Although it is a little small for true in car GPS aficionados. If you don’t wander too far from home, and can tolerate the low battery life, you can pick up your own 4GB iriver NV mini for 188,000W ($131 USD) in Korea.
