
Following up on the success of Korea’s first astronaut the scientist at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute are hard at work preparing for the launch of Korea’s ‘home grown’ rocket. The Korea Space Launch Vehicle (KSLV-1) has been designed to send domestically produced satellites into orbit.
The rocket is being developed in collaboration with Russia’s State Space Science and Production Center, but Korea hopes to have a completely domestic rocket by 2017 capable of launching 1.5 ton satellites into lower earth orbit.
