Implanted Chip Beckons ‘End Times’ For Korean Dogs

Seongnam City in South Korea is running a three month trial to microchip dogs in the city. The program is mandatory for all pet owners living in two city districts, and if the program is a success it will be expanded over the entire the city. For the dogs it seems ‘end days’ has arrived, they will be taken to the vet and have a chip implanted in their neck. We can only assume the final solution in Seongnam City will be the extermination of any strays who do not have the implant.

The chip used measures 25 sq millimeter and will hold the address where the pet was registered, its breed, the owners name, phone numbers, and address, as a cute touch they even included the pets birthday. All pets information will be stored in the Ministry of Agriculture’s computer databases. As many Koreans still enjoy eating dog meat it is a little ironic that the data will be stored with the Ministry of Agriculture. Waiter! There appears to be a microchip in my soup!
