Hyundai designers apparently caught the latest Fast and Furious movie which no doubt served as inspiration for the sleek new Genesis Coupe. The Genesis 380GT will be launching in Korea December 29th, 2008 and should be out available Stateside in Spring 2009. The price is not yet available but Hyundai USA President John Krafcik has said the car will be available at “prices more like [the] Mitsubishi Eclipse”.
This car is going to be fast, under the hood is a Tau V8 3.8L engine turning out 300 horsepower. Hyundai has gone on the record saying the Genesis is not a replacement for the Tiburon, but at with the Genesis’ design and price point combined with Hyundai’s desire to move up the auto manufactures food chain, it seems likely the Tiburon’s days are numbered.
