LG & Samsung Take Things Slow and Steady With Android
Samsung and LG are reportedly set to release their Google Android based phone in the second half of 2009. T-Mobile’s G1 will be the first and for a short time only Android phone available to consumers who live within areas with established 3G networks to ensure that customer’s do encounter any problems with their 3G networks. Mirae Asset Securities Co., expressed their lack of enthusiasm for the phone and their doubt over the profitability of Googles business plan , but perhaps they will change their tune when home grown heroes Samsung and Lg release their Android phones later next year.
T-Mobile G1 “First Android Phone”
Although it failed to impress analysts from mobile phone spoiled rotten Korea, from a North American perspective the G1 looks like a nice little phone. A good camera, GPS, and enough storage space makes this a fairly impressive model for its market. However, the success of this phone will be judged solely on Android rather then the hardware.
The T-Mobile G1 features one-click Google search, easy access to all Google-centric apps, such as Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, and Google Talk.
The G1 measures 4.6 x 2.16 x 0.63″ and weigh 5.6 ounces. The display is a HVGA 480 x 320 resolution screen with only 65K colors. Others features include built-in GPS, 3G, 3.1 megapixel camera, and support for up to 8GB memory.T-Mobile’s G1 is lacking is some departments, there is no support for stereo Bluetooth, no corporate access email, a Gmail account is required and it won’t be made available in prepaid kits (data plans are also required).
