New ‘Korean’ Pico Projector Not Very Korean

Akihabara News ran a piece entitled “Another Tiny Portable Video Projector from Korea“, one of their readers named ‘Jun’ had sent in the pic with a small amount of technical specs, but failed to include the name of the manufacture. A variety of blogs began circulating information about this new ‘Korean Projector’. It all looked kind of suspect, whats the point in reporting an image of something that could be an empty shell. About Projectors and even Engadget ran the story. However, if your looking for this pico projector don’t book your flight to Korea just yet. The PEP01 projector is made by FuchiView, a Taiwanese company. In the future lets all at least try to confirm a manufactures name before we run with a mediocre lead.

The often misreported lightweight portable video projector has been specially designed to cater to the needs of the business professionals on the move, as well as consumers with very tiny apartments. This ‘mystery’ pico projector is capable of projecting images/videos at a range of 21-180cm. The resolution of 640X480 pixels (VGA) with an aspect ration of 4:3 is not bad considering the size of the device. The projector can also be connected to a variety of devices producing video output in NTSC and PAL formats. The built in battery provides up to 40 minutes of projections, so make that presentation to Korean investors quick.
