09.10.08 | Comment?

If you have an electronic product in your home which is no longer in use, recycle it! You know its the right thing to do, and now Samsung does too. Samsung electronic is ready to recycle Samsung-branded consumer electronics devices like televisions, monitors, DVD players, home theater systems, cameras, camcorders, printers, and peripherals. The recycling of all Samsung branded electronics will be free. Samsung will still take their competitions electronics, but if you want to recycle non-Samsung electronic product there is a nominal fee. The Samsung Recycling Direct program is set to start on October 1, 2008 in all 50 states.

This program is a great step towards protecting the environment. Samsung will track and monitor the amount of electronics waste taking in by the recycling companies and publish the results on their website. The company has contracted recycling companies to clean up and it will ensure that these companies do not incinerate, dump the products, or export toxic waste to other countries.
It is great that companies like Samsung are taking some responsibility to recycle e-waste. Whether they actually care or are in it for the publicity is open to debate, but as long as it gets done this Planeteer is happy.
