LG kills off their HD DVD/Blu-ray player lineup

lg-bh200 Dual Bluray HDDVD Player

LG’s HD DVD/Blu-ray combo players will stop production very soon. In a crucial decision taken by the top official of the company the production of the HD combo players will be halted this fall. The LG BH200 will be their last dual combo HD player that will be launched this fall for $587.

The move by the company is not surprising. Samsung has already axed its BD-UP5500 launch and it doesn’t seem to make financial sense to push mainstream products supporting HD DVD. Their final player is just the company pushing out one more piece of hardware that passed the point of no return. Hear that? It’s an echo of HD DVD’s last breaths.
