AT&T will be releasing the LG VU in two models, the CU915 and the CU920 that will come equipped with a mobile TV antenna for AT&Ts soon to be available TV service. The service is being offered through Qualcomm’s MediaFLO network and will include 10 channels with two exclusive to AT&T. The phone will also be picked up by Rogers wireless in Canada.
The handsets look pretty decent with a 3-inch WQVGA color touchscreen for all those channels, and 2 mega pixel camera with auto focus. The storage is pretty weak coming in at 120MB but can be expanded by up to 4GB with a micro SD card.
It all sounds a little depressing after reading about the phones available in other countries around the world, but its a start. It is yet to be seen if mobile TV will ever take in the U.S., it seems unlikely since most of the mobile TV watching done overseas is on subway or bus commutes. However, we have faith that innovation will prevail simple because newer is better.
