South Korean company Mobile Intelligent Ubiquitous (MIU) was not satisfied with current methods of classifying computers. Although their new device looks suspiciously like UMPC, the company has opted to create a new category of computer and call their new device a HDPC. Much like MIU’s name the company believes that more is better.
True to its all in one functionality MIU’s HDPC is capable of running Windows XP, Windows CE 5, and even Linux Qplus. Everything is processed courtesy of a 1GHz VIA C7M ULV with 4GB of RAM. For storage you can choose a 30GB or 60GB 1.3″ hard drive or 4GB of flash. The screen is 4″ and the device will stay juiced for 7 hours with high use. Wireless internet as well as Bluetooth come standard as well as a 3.5 mega pixel camera. I f thats not enough for you optional items such as an extended battery and GPS navigator can be added.
When the smoke from the tech specs clears you left with a device that can handle computing, web browsing, VOIP calls, audio/video playback, and E-books. It plays DMB, works as a PMP, electronic dictionary, and game player.
The device has a impressive plethora of features and is expected to launch in Korea June 2008 for W400,000 and W500,000. Right now the photos look like the device is still in the prototype stage, but if MIU works hard they might make their Tricorder reminiscent HDPC a reality by the release date.
