Samsung has canceled all plans to manufacture their recently announced Blu-Ray - HD DVD combo player. The player was on display at this years CES and was seen as a replacement for the previously released Samsung BD-UP5o00 combo player that had been plagued by problems.
The floor is open to speculation on the reason behind the canceled release. Our money is on the lack of consumer demand, or more accurately lack on consumers willingness to pay more for something that offers minimal benefits after Blu-Rays reccent success in the format war. Or maybe Samsung just didn’t feel like risking another lawsuit over a half-baked Blu-Ray player again.
