Pidion is a Korean company that is partnered with Bluebird Software to create PDA’s that are tailored to Korean businesses needs.
Their newest PDA is the BIP-5000 that has a good design more reminiscent of a PDA bound for the consumer market. The PDA’s CPU is an Intel PXA270 520MHz, it comes with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM that can be upgraded to 128MB and 512MB respectively using Mini SD. The screen is a 3.5″ TFT-LCD with 240X320 resolution. The PDA is also equipped with a laser bar code scanner and a 3 mega pixel camera. The unit communicates using Bluetooth, CDMA, WLAN, or GSM. The BIP-5000 is powered by the Windows CE 5.0 OS.
The BIP-5000 is fairly sleek for a business PDA and manages to pack in a lot of futures. The major drawback is the lack of a QWERTY keyboard. Although there is handwriting recognition software the keyboard is key for writing e-mails, memos, and other business essential tasks.
