The iRiver Clix is one of the most innovative portable media players to hit the market in the past few years. The Clix is well designed both in appearance and functionality. The inovative Direct Clix System eliminates the need for most of the PMP’s buttons leaving a larger area for the LCD display. The Clix is so small and sleek it actually looks good with the neck or wrist strap accessories. What will really grab peoples attention is the alarm clock inspired cradle. The cradle will charge your Clix, act as an alarm, and comes with a small remote.
The Clix brand is exclusive to North America and Europe, but a similar PMP is sold in South Korea under the U10 name. The U10 has 512MB and 1GB versions, while the Clix comes in 2GB or 4GB versions. Both devices have a Li-Polymer battery with 28-30 hours of playback. The display is a 2.22″ color TFT-LCD. In the typical iRiver fashion they went overboard on the features providing music, picture, and video playback, FM radio, a voice recorder, alarm clock, eBook support, and flash games.
The iRiver Clix was easy to navigate and fun to use. Despite its small memory iRiver has created a great PMP that is a worthy opponent to the iPod dominated market. The iRiver Clix 4GB edition is available for $193 in the Hallyu Tech Store.
