Kowon debuted their new MSP-209 Wearable Display at New Tech 2006. Although it is fairly stylish for a wearable display, its unlikely consumers will jump at the chance to look like a bad Robo cop Halloween costume anytime soon.
The MSP-209 provides up to eight hours of video from a personal media player. The display is similar to watching a 32″ display. The display comes bundled with the eye wear, RCA adapter with a mini-USB, and a separated power source to reduce the weight of the glasses. The Korean and English language brochures both list different weights for the glasses and power pack, so if you have a Kowan wearable display and a decent digital scale you can be the first to solve that mystery.
Although most people are not in the market for a wearable display, I would recommend the Kowon MSP-209 if you are. The picture quality and sound was very good, and I could still see the area around me while wearing the display. However, I could not shake the feeling that everyone in the building thought I was a huge nerd, and I was at a technology exhibition! The MSP-209 is currently available for W199,000 or $212 USD.
