Paying ridiculously inflated prices, armed robbery, and home invasions have all allegedly taken place since the release of the PS3. The internet is full of news about the PS3 shortages and the danger involved in acquiring one. However, there are some places in the world that can’t get rid of them. If you really want a PS3 this holiday season make a trip to Taiwan. Without my internet connection I would never believe that there was a PS3 shortage. Walk into almost any gaming store in Taipei and feel free to choose a 60GB or 20GB system. The only catch is you have to buy one game with it (sorry Chinese place holders). A 60GB system with a game will cost TWD19,980 or USD $613. When I asked the store manager how many units he had, he just asked me how many I wanted. The small store I was in had at least 8 PS3’s in sight.
Rather then spend a ridiculous amount of money on an overpriced system find someone or some business in Taiwan to mail you one. Its a lot better then robbing someone at gun point, and only moderately less exciting.
