Samsung was actively showing off their new SDP-07 digital picture frames. The frames where tucked in beside every computer on display, while other frames lined the walls of Samsung’s KES booth.
The Samsung frames feature a 7 inch wide LCD screen with resolution of 800 x 420 pixels. It supports several forms of media including JPEG, MP3, MPEG1, MPEG4, WMV9. They also have a 1W built in speaker. The frame has 32MB internal storage and pictures can be uploaded to it by USB, SD/MMC, or CF memory cards.
Users will also be able to upload pictures and video from their cell phone providing their carrier supports this feature. There is also a calendar, clock, and weather forecast that can be displayed on the picture frame. The SDP-07 digital frame is currently only available in Korea for approximately $299. Samsung is partnering with domestic Internet providers to deliver these services. So if your looking to import one of these for Christmas, you will not be able to use the phone or net services.
The only thing missing from the Samsung SDP-07 is a wireless connection. Wi-Fi is offered in many other companies digital picture frames making uploading pictures and other data such as news and weather much simpler. One of the benefits of having a digital picture frame is being able to keep in touch with loved ones who are far away. A lot of a digital picture frames attraction is enabling a remote user to upload pictures to the frame. For example in a long distance relationship couples would like the ability to upload pictures onto each others picture frames.
Although the Samsung frame is the most stylish digital picture frame available the lack of Wi-Fi is likely to restrict this version of the frame to a Korea only release.
