Caviar ITRC 7000 Intelligent Digital Home Controller

11.15.06 | Comment?

I found the Korean company UTAS kicking back with their feet up in a ‘futuristic living room’ display at this years KES. They where showing off their new Caviar Intelligent Digital Home Controller which uses IR to control home entertainment electronics. Providing you have some compatible home automation features it can also control your security cameras and lights.
The Caviar uses a high powered IR trans miter with a 15M range to control your home electronics. The colour touch screen is a 3.5″ TFT LCD. The remotes software runs off Windows CE 4.2 can be updated online through a USB port.
The Caviar ITRC 7000 comes with a charging cradle, DC Adaptor, and USb cable and you can decide whether you prefer it in black or silver. All this can be yours for $427 USD, but if you act before November 17th feel free to use my 25% discount coupon code [C10369].
The Caviar Intelligent Digital Home Controller is an odd name for what is essentially little more then an expensive remote control. That being said the Caviar remote was incredibly enjoyable to use and functioned extremely well. Since it primarily uses IR it will work with most home theater electronics. However, for the price of the remote (even with the 25% discount) it seems hard to justify buying this very expensive remote control. If UTAS can manage to steadily bring down the price this remote could become a welcome addition to home theaters everywhere.
